#CumbreVieja this a little odd #LavaBomb - the product of an #eruption. We think it looks due to #weathering like a #FirCone😻

This is from the #NobleFir which grows in the woodland at #WWTCastleEspie.
Apparently the #squirrels love them.

This fossil fir cone is about 30 million years old, and it's of a type commonly found in sandstone nodules in an area of Germany about halfway between Frankfurt and the Luxembourg border. As noted elsewhere, the design is so good that it has hardly changed over time.
