Here is my xmas present to all the #Mastoadmin of small instances: the new #FediBuzz #relay! https://relay.fedi.buzz/

C3D2.social

Native discovery of related tags (fedibuzz/tags.pub)

I was talking to my marketing guy about integrating a tags-based onboarding workflow for freshly installed forums.

The gist of it is, the forum admin adds a couple tags for the forum to globally follow, and achieves this via fedibuzz relay or tags.pub. Auto-categorization rules are automatically added and the forum starts receiving new (highly relevant!) posts through the magic of hashtag+federation ✨

He then asked whether it was possible to suggest related tags (e.g. add guitar suggest acousticguitar, electricguitar, etc.) for the admin to also add, to which I replied in the negative "for now".

But that got me thinking, is this something fedibuzz or tags.pub could achieve/offer in its API?[...]

"Fedi Buzz"

Trends in the Fediverse

@FediFollows You could also follow @instance-social.overheid.nl

Then you will have all posts from the social.overheid.nl instance in your feed. #FediBuzz

You could then put the relay link in a list, to organize your timelines. I wrote about this here: https://mishathings.org/posts/2025-01-22-lists-columns-and-relays/

Expand your Fediverse and meet new friends!

In this post I share three tips that have helped me find great people on Mastodon. In contrast to your regular corporate Big Tech social media, the Fediverse is not packed with algorithms that build your world for you. You have to do it yourself. To be sure, this has advantages. For example, your digital world will be a more active product of who you are and what you like, rather than what some algorithm thinks you like, on the basis of some superficial reading of who you are. Also, it prevents a few popular accounts from getting even more popular, which helps to spread and share the community’s attention more equally.

Finally started using the @ tag-<hashtag>@relay.fedi.buzz (no space) hashtag following service here today.

It's a Goddamn Delight to be able to follow firehose-tier hashtags AND be able to put them into Lists so they don't consume my home timeline. 🤩

Federation: Community Kickstart Guide

The hardest part of building a community is getting your users. If you don't have users, you don't have content, and if you don't have content, users won't join your forum. This chicken-and-egg game leads to many communities closing down due to lack of usage. Federation allows you to bypass this step by allowing you to "adopt" the fediverse as a source of content, so you don't have to worry about retaining users, but just creating content.

NodeBB ships with a couple of powerful features that allow you to jump-start any new forum with live conversation and discussion with only a few clicks. This guide introduces you to these tools and teaches you how to use them.

This article is part of the NodeBB Answers category, where you can learn more about setting up, maintaining, and using your NodeBB forum. [...]

It's a long shot but since migrating my VPS and domain hosting the awesome #FediBuzz is stuck on 'Waiting for relay's approval'. Existing relays for tags seem fine. I've tried the usual maintenance like clearing my server cache and even removing all existing relays but it's still stuck. Anyone else had a similar issue?

Kinda stuck as that's my fire-hose of content for my #selfhosted server.

I am really excited to watch streams of #FOSDEM talks tomorrow concerning #Fediverse discovery and following global hashtags: https://fosdem.org/2026/schedule/track/social-web/

I believe that this all could work much better than #FediBuzz if it gets built into server implementations itself.

@heluecht oh wow, that's great news, thx. 🤗 [albeit also somewhat inconvenient in that any time i wish to add any new relay.fedi.buzz accounts i have to involve my instance-admin, rather than simply do it myself like in my sharkey & masto accounts]

i have three remaining #friendica accounts, so here's a question to each of
- @MelissaBearTrix #farcebookspace
- @raroun #opensocialspace
- @tux #anonsysnet

pls would you each be kind enough to apply Michael's advice, which if i understand correctly, means:

bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected] bin/console relay add [email protected]
thank you all very much.

@shlee @astro Okay, looks like the updates are pulling across through the Fedi Buzz relay to my test account at Mastodon.Social.

So FediBuzz is working, it is pulling updates from Aus Social.

I tried unfollowing and then re-following the FediBuzz feeds from my GtS account.

They're stuck on follow requested.
