@ovid @carnage4life Learning to do something I’m genuinely bad at, that stays hard, has probably been as good for me as the actual exercise.

Here I am, old, overweight, and slow, and I can still lace up my shoes and get out there. I impress myself every time I do! And giving myself permission to go ahead and be the #backofthepack has been liberating.

@IcooIey As a 62 year old #FatRunner, I relate to this hard!

I have always been bad at running, and age and weight gain haven’t changed that for the better. I’m incredibly slow, and I have to work strategically just to be able to engage in running without injury.

But.

I run. I have learned to enjoy the way it feels. As they say, a 10 minute mile is as long as a 5 minute mile. (Or in my case, a 17 minute mile.)

It is a revelation to me, that I can love a thing I’m bad at.
