Fallen Earth
It’s 2156, and the world has been destroyed by both nuclear and bio-chemical means. Your story takes place in one of the few habitable places left in the world, the Grand Canyon. As a clone with an uncertain past, your job is survival in a world now built on destruction, betrayal and fragile factional alliances.
In the ongoing saga of "Trevor loves old weird games," Fallen Earth continues to be a favourite. The vibes are immaculate. So glad it's back from the dead (again).
YouTuber Josh Strife Hayes did a great video on FE a few years back and it captures my feelings pretty well. Lots of grind, lots of vibes, so much to do.
In the genre of "here's a weird game that Trevor thinks is a mixed bag but is pretty special," Fallen Earth is back! It's a post-apocalyptic sandbox action MMORPG currently being remastered by its current owners, a studio called Little Orbit. For months, it's been offline while they rebuild the back end for modern server hardware and sort out some issues. Unfortunately, it's a game from 2009, and has no idea what to do with my modern laptop graphics chip. The Intel Core Ultra 125H and Arc graphics provide far more than enough power for the game (I was getting more than playable frame rates on my old i5 Surface Pro 3 before I put Ubuntu on it). The game is just too old to take advantage of it. I'll need to sneak onto the desktop so I can play at more than my current 60 frames per... minute.
