Mini #faircamp 2.0 graphical user interface teaser for some core aspects that are finally coming together after maaany weeks of toil: '^^

1. Every form field in faircamp 2.0's graphical interface features a documentation badge (-> what is the underlying (manifest) option, link to online documentation (also tied to the respective, correct version of the docs from 2.0 onwards))

2. Every form field is aware of the value and exact origin of all inherited defaults. For instance, you can set a default "more_label" for all tracks throughout the site, but on the release level you can override this default for all tracks within the release. And in the track settings itself, the form field will tell you what its default value is and where that comes from (and also where it does not come from because it was overridden again). These default origin badges are also clickable and take you to the respective source settings!

3. As of just now, form fields also trace their default value back to the tags in the audio files. \o/

I'm tentatively planning to record a little "first look at faircamp 2.0" video in the next days that will showcase the interface in action, let's see how it goes! ( ◡‿◡ *)

Split, by D. Marion/M. Mucci

6 track album

Tall House Recording Co.

Had a few spare mins to turn this unreleased release into an actual release: https://music.theargentgrub.co.uk/my-old-heart/

It had been 'published' using #faircamp 's unreleased feature that allows it to be on the web but un/less discoverable so #fairtrademusicfriday folk could listen first.

Anyway, it's out out now. Jehanne is lovely, and sings beautifully, and I enjoyed crafting this song with her, and I like it a lot.

My Old Heart

My Old Heart is another collaboration with Jehanne, a singer and songwriter based in Leeds in the UK.

Been working on a small decentralised music search tool https://squirrel.band/, initially indexing sites using faircamp (by @freebliss).

Currently grabs the sites listed on https://simonrepp.com/faircamp/ and in the webring (https://faircamp.webr.ing/) using each pages available RSS feeds, keen to add more sources if anyone has any suggestions.

friends, neighbours, fedizens, could you help me with some reach?

It's hard for #indie #artists to try and have a semi ethical online presence. Even harder when the artist comes from the darker nooks and crannies of he sonic palette, like a boss fight and one of your Famicom buttons is sticking. Last year I arted hard and I am trying to art even harder this year with your help.

Have I reached the end of the verse? Are there any endemic creatures of the night and beauty in the darkness friends out there or, might you pleasantly surprise yourself and hopefully your neighbours with some dark disco, #ebm, #industrial, #goth house, #synthpop, #futurepop, cathartic #powernoise, #horror, #dystopian, dark and noisy cinematic #soundtracks? We got it all on UHF.

Could you:

- Chuck me a follow and/or subscribe to my occasional and zero corporate tracking mail list as the feed is not always reliable to communicate events and releases?

- Mark your calendar to attend and maybe help hype and promote this weeks free #live online #concert where I am kicking off the new @nham presents series on TIBtv. 19th march 2100 UTC at @tibtvnowplayingbot . It's kind of a big deal in our small pond. The friends and colleagues hosting and the regular attendees are rad and you will love the #community vibes in chat. #joinIn and ride the #fediwave. You might even like the #oontz too!

- Have you checked out REPLICATE 1.0, my recent dark electronic renditions #covers album of alt and pop bangers and clangers from the 80s to present? Going to play some that I hadn't in last years' shows, plus sneak debut something from 2.0 at the live show this week. #newRelease #nowPlaying #fediMusic

- In addition to serenading your neighbours, I would love to be the soundtrack to your moving pictures, animation, video game assets, loops and beats, physical installation space, remix, haunted house, or any and all cool or punching upward projects you might have or could link me up with? I am seeking donate what you can if you can #commissions and am also super happy to offer or tweak existing things from the catalogue for your brief. I can brighten up the tone and sound if that suits.

- Or #donations always welcome if you don't need any sound but would like to just support/sponsor more of all of the above happening, I do enjoy having heat and meds, keep my inclusive and safer online live shows growing as I am unable to physically tour or work for others' tours, and help a subsistence farmer get more aggressively positive sonic assault out there free for the people.

- #boostswelcome these things OR EVEN BETTER, if you have a minute, maybe tag me up and make a post in your own words about something you enjoyed or was pleasantly surprised by etc from my previous shows, releases, remixes?

All the above things are in bio and pinned posts.

Thanks for your help.

Let's stomp in solidarity.

Just discovered https://unstream.stream/ through https://the.socialmusic.network/ , am I late to the party? :D

From the website: "Find your favorite music on alternative platforms, directly support the artists you love, and move off streaming."

Quite cool, the results seem to be somewhat comprehensive, including Bandwagon and Faircamp!

Right now I've got one last big question to solve: How to consolidate changes made in the graphical form fields with the file-based backend.

In most systems this is a simple matter: Just take, (type-transform,) and save what the user entered (1:1).

In faircamp's case however, each form field (unique and singular in the GUI) maps to any number of (valid or even invalid) declarations of that setting that may exist in the plaintext manifest backend.

So when you e.g. write a setting entered in the GUI back to the manifest ... does it go into line 4 where the setting was declared, or into line 12 where it was also declared a second time, or into line 16 or 23 where it was declared a third and fourth time but with an invalid syntax?

(*/▽\*)

The good news is that I have all the data structures for this in place already, it's just the consolidation model/algorithm/flow that is a bit challenging, with many settings having different types, requiring different form field/components for each, and different types between the frontend and backend that I need to transform between as well hehe.

But after that it'll be just tying up a thousand loose ends and documenting and publicly testing and packaging and shipping the thing. Piece of cake! ( ^◡^)

Okay, a couple of fun things I'm working on for #unstream right now:

- true artist pages & a process to claim them
- artist page customization - curate your platform links, add a bio, add a featured release
- embeds
- a simple directory of verified indie artists

No fuzz here; this one is dedicated to soothing tones and reverberated lullabies. Spring is here. Listen before the light fades, take it in and give it away.
