I've yet to complete their full integration, but it seems #faircamp 2.0 will gain a published/released/updated date/time setting triple feature. :)

This should resolve some long-standing open questions on improving the RSS feed delivery in terms of communicating updates via date/time metadata, and it will (with the approach taken now) keep faircamp fully stateless (as in, no extra hidden state tracking outside of your data in the site directory).

That said, especially with the new architecture, it'd be feasible that faircamp automatically adds/updates these fields for you sometime in the future (possibly as a configurable setting), both when going through the CLI and GUI. That'd be neat! •ᴗ•

Quick recap of the last week or so in #faircamp 2.0 development:

- Automated migration from 1.x to 2.0 is now merged and already passed a few basic test/iteration cycles (https://codeberg.org/simonrepp/faircamp/commit/532485c8710fcabd20e6af0762b32ca52b712c5f) (edit: and actually all of my most complex synthetic test cases too :D)

- Faircamp 2.0 can now automatically select the homepage for your site (if you don't explicitly set one): A single track, a single release, an artist page or a catalog, depending on how much content you provide

- Image descriptions can now use multiline syntax in the manifests too

- Docs search has been improved some: Multi-keyword search, keyboard shortcut, etc.

- Blanket override of artists (for releases, tracks, or both) is now possible at the site-level

- Almost finished addition from today: Track ordering can be arbitrarily chosen now (automatic, release date, file name, dir path, title, track number - asc or desc as chosen) (edit: at build time, that is)

May has been super packed with conferences, events, etc. so I'm looking forward to more and longer uninterrupted stretches of work in June. I'm going to need them because there is still a lot to do, oof. ^^

I was thinking of offering my mixing services. I could master a mix (from the stereo), which potentially includes EQ, compression, stereo widening/narrowing, various effects, etc. That would be one price. A full mix-to-master where I have separate tracks to mix would be priced higher because it takes a lot longer. It also can have the most dramatic sonic enhancements.

What is that worth these days, I wonder? I have these "bills" things which remind me that work is a good thing, and that I should probably experience more of it, because nobody is paying adorable me to be me, though one of you really should! 😁

Along this line, I intend to record another album over the next few months. I might be digging into the poetry hashtags to see if there are any poems out there which are ready to become songs. If you're a Bernie Taupin, I'll be your Elton John. I haven't decided whether to get it onto streaming media platforms. I didn't, for the last 2.

I might also change the Faircamp site to its default behavior b/c some people missed the Donate link, and asked about it. By default, Faircamp has a Donate page when you download something (which can be $0). I thought moving it to a link would behave similarly, but if it's sometimes hard to find, then that's not so good.
