Networks will connect differently in the future, using something called "IPv6-only Peering LANs" (this is a technical standard, RFC8950). We set up a LAN party to see how ready different tech companies are for this. The results show that some companies need to improve their support. #peeringfamily #euroix

Speed is always important! The newest version of the BIRD route server software (version 3.1) is here, and it performs very well. It can easily manage connections with 2000 or more other networks (often called peers). This is particularly good news for @decix biggest Internet Exchange Points (IXPs). @decix Frankfurt connects over 1000 members and are growing rapidly (by 20%!), so this improved capacity really matters.
