Hey, I was just checking my almanac and realized it's the Ides of March. The day when we celebrate the assassinations of tyrants? (The almanac didn't say that, I did.)
I mean, we could celebrate Czar Nicholas II of Russia abdicated his throne(03/15/1917), or Maine becoming a state, (1819), or the Sullivan show being canceled, (1971) or any number of interesting March Ides coincidences, but me?
I'd like to take this day to remember about 60 Roman senators, with special callout to Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassius Longinus, and Decimus Junius Brutus Albinus.
Well done boys. Well done. Sure, it caused the fall of Rome, but really...wasn't it time? Once the aristos are convinced they themselves are gods, and start erecting statues honoring themselves, it's probably time.
