I read a #language factoid once that said that English-as-a-second-language speakers tend to not use certain grammatical constructions, and it stuck with me.
The one major example they gave were conjunctive constructions of the type "Were I to take out the trash today, [...]".
I am making an active effort to include those in my day-to-day language, to little avail so far. It's probably all pop science nonsense anyway, but it's just always in the back of my head.
