#OTD July 19, 1960 – Juan Marichal makes his major league debut with the San Francisco Giants and tosses a complete game, one-hit shutout in a 2-0 win over the Philadelphia Phillies before a crowd of 13,279 at Candlestick Park. The Dominican Dandy retired the first 19 batters he faced and held the Phils hitless for 7.2 innings before pinch-hitter Clay Dalrymple stroked a clean single to center to end the no-hit bid. #OTD July 13, 1965 – Juan Marichal and Willie Mays lead the National League to a 6-5 win over their American League counterparts in the All-Star Game played at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minn. Marichal pitched three scoreless innings and earned game MVP honors while Mays homered, walked twice and scored a pair of runs.
