Despite muting loads of things I'm starting to see an awful lot of posts along the lines of "yeah you can fix that but what about *long list of other stuff*, it's all too much and there's no point trying".

Yeah, there is. Take the original UNIX approach - do one thing, and do it well. If enough people do that then the list gets a lot smaller.

This applies to politics just as much as technology; at local, national, and international levels too.

Latest step to de-Amazon has been to download all my existing Kindle books (while we had the chance) and now I've switched to Kobo after confirming that I can work with their format.

I've heard from friends that Kobo is less evil for buying Ebooks.
