Reports of Deno's Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated | Deno

Addressing recent Deno criticisms and sharing our vision for the future

Deno
#DenoJS executable for x86_64 Linux has meanwhile grown to 140 Mb? What's wrong with this world... 🤕
At least #BunJS is still under 100 Mb, but for how long...
#JavaScript #TypeScript
Has anyone tried dropping Deno 2.0 in as a replacement for Node on a full-fledged production project? How did it go? Did you see any performance gains? Any nasty surprises? #denojs #nodejs #deno2

FFS... successfully upgraded my web crawler https://tris.fly.dev to Node with TypeScript, there is absolutely no visible change in the application apart from the v1.4.0 footer tag.

Docker build takes 90s more ie. 110s instead of 20s~, haha.

I am yet to reap the goodness of TypeScript. Why did I do this?!

I built the initial app without it so... maybe DHH is right all along.

My next endeavor is to transform it into a #DenoJS app. I guess this was the only reason to shift into #TypeScript.

🤔 Does anyone actually use deno.land in production? Even those who give public talks about it don't really use it in production, only for hobby projects. It's a bit sad 'cause, I like the technology, but I'm not convinced it's ready for larger projects. #denojs
