Repeating our appeal for anyone who can help @acscricket fill the gaps in scorecards for many of the 1,583 first-class matches (especially for Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa and the West Indies) so that the records can become even more comprehensive!

In today's match between England and Sri Lanka, Sam Curran has just taken only the second hat-trick by England in T20 internationals, after Chris Jordan's against USA at Bridgetown in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

It's Curran's third T20 hat-trick in all - he's already done it in the IPL and The Men's Hundred. His brother Tom has one in the Blast.

World first-class record!

Pakistan Television defend a target of 40, defeating Sui Northern Gas Pipelines by 2 runs at Karachi in the President's Trophy.

Fast bowler Amad Butt took 4-28 in 10 overs and slow left-armer Ali Usman a sensational 6-9 in 9.4 as they routed SNGPL for 37.

They beat a 232-year-old record set when Oldfield skittled MCC for 34 chasing 41 at the old Lord's in 1794.

The Notcher's Natter
England wicketkeeper Bob Taylor scored his maiden first-class century when he reached 100 for Derbyshire against Yorkshire at Sheffield on 19 June 1981.
He had accumulated 10,324 runs before he went out to bat, and on 19 overtook Tony Lock (10,342) as the cricketer with most first-class runs but no century.
On completing his hundred, he handed the record back to Lock, who still holds it.

In the current Test between New Zealand and West Indies at Mount Maunganui, Tom Latham (137 & 101) and Devon Conway (227 & 100) have become the first opening batters who both scored centuries in both innings of any first-class match.

The closest previous instance also took place in New Zealand: Bert Sutcliffe (141 & 135) and Don Taylor (99 & 143) for Auckland v Canterbury at Auckland in January 1949.

Mitch Stanley has taken 11-180 in his second first-class match. Both have been for Lancashire v Kent, but he only managed one wicket at Blackpool in June.

The biggest Championship victory by an innings margin occurred when Surrey beat Hampshire by an innings and 468 at The Oval in 1909. (Hampshire must have had a sense of déjà vu in 1911, when Lancashire beat them by an innings and 455 at Manchester.)

England beat Australia by an innings and 579 at The Oval in 1938.

But the overall first-class record was set in Pakistan, when Railways won by an innings and 851 over Dera Ismail Khan at Lahore in 1964/65.
