Hi all.

On the 23rd of June 2026, I’ll be doing something that until recently seemed impossible for me as a blind person: jumping out of an aeroplane!

I’ll be joined by Georgia from Visiting Angels Home Care as we take part in a charity skydive to raise money for Coventry Vision Hub, an organisation that makes a real difference to the lives of blind and visually impaired people across Coventry and the surrounding area.

The Hub provides far more than practical support. It helps people build confidence, independence and friendships. Whether it’s technology and devices workshops, Braille tuition, wellbeing activities, social groups, advice and guidance, or simply having somewhere welcoming to go, the Hub is often a lifeline for people adjusting to sight loss or looking to live more independently.

As someone who volunteers there, I’ve seen first-hand the difference it makes. It’s a place where people learn new skills, gain confidence, solve problems together, often while putting the world to rights over a cup of tea and a biscuit or two. That social connection can be just as important as any formal service.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small the amount, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every penny helps Coventry Vision Hub continue supporting blind and visually impaired people in our community.

If donating isn’t possible right now, please consider sharing this post as widely as you can. The more people who see it, the better chance we have of reaching those who can help.

Thank you for your support, encouragement, and for helping me justify voluntarily throwing myself out of a perfectly good aircraft!
