Reminds me of how my GA History textbook said the Civil War wasn't primarily about slavery or white supremacy.

It doesn't matter that I also don't implicitly trust "the media" or that I'm not a rabid blue team partisan. My skepticism is patronage, and their patronage is skepticism.
