Lovely new review of my book #ComputingTheClimate in July's Weather:
"what is by far and away the best thing is how accessibly the information is presented. Ideas and scientific concepts are gradually built on chapter by chapter and seamlessly combine historical reference and background narrative with atmospheric physics theories. You do not need to be an expert in computer science or atmospherics to get a lot of out of this book."

Here's a lovely review of my book #ComputingTheClimate in the Society of Exploration Geophysicists journal The Leading Edge this month:
"This timely and important book describes the current state of the art in techniques to model climate change, the massive teams working to improve the models, and the continuing efforts to acquire more and better data for input."

At my talk at IPSL on Thursday, on my book #ComputingTheClimate, someone at the end asked about the subtitle, and specifically why the repetition of words:
“How we know what we know about climate change”

It’s a great question. There are lots of books and explainers on what we know about #ClimateChange. Very few explain in detail *how* we know it. The repetition in my subtitle is a deliberate wordplay that I hope draws attention to this.

Disconnected facts don’t win hearts and minds.

Lovely review of #ComputingTheClimate by Bruno Gonçalves, in Data For Science:
"a captivating journey into the synergy of climate science and computing, making it a must-read for anyone intrigued by the intersection of these fields. Easterbrook’s engaging writing style effortlessly demystifies complex concepts, ensuring accessibility for readers with diverse backgrounds"

Ha! That document gets the longest footnote in my book #ComputingTheClimate, as I wanted to include the court case over this report. Eckert and Mauchly sued von Neumann, claiming he had stolen their ideas...
I'm in Colorado all this week. Giving talks on my new book #ComputingTheClimate at the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere (CIRA) in Fort Collins on Tuesday; at the National Centre for Atmospheric Research in Boulder on Wednesday; and then the opening keynote for a Workshop on Correctness and Reproducibility for Climate and Weather Software on Thursday. Give me a shout if you're in town!
