RIP computer pioneer Willem van der Poel (1926-2024), professor at TU Delft from 1962-1988.

- 1944: Designed computer while in hiding for the Nazis.
- 1952: Inventor of subroutine calling via LIFO stack
- 1953: Creator of the ZEBRA computer
- 1960s: Contributions to ALGOL 60 and 68
- 1968: NATO Software Engineering Conference
- 1971: IEEE Computer Pioneer Award
- 1991: Knighted
- 2017: 90-year anniversary lecture at TU Delft.
