WOOHOO! Self hosted Grist, an open source Airtable / FileMaker type app, just got packaged for @cloudron

Going to get this on #CommonsComputer right away

I'm in Eastern Timezone for at least another couple of weeks, and was pleased to actually use Cal .com's temporary timezone change feature cal.com/blog/you-can... It also has "out of office" in a good way. I've been self hosting via #CommonsComputer on Cloudron for over 2 years now, it's great!

I’m going to back them and figure out a community to run this for. Maybe a @dwebyvr.org / #CommonsComputer project. They are working with Co-Op Cloud, a Docker Swarm based cloud infra system built by @autonomic.zone that I still haven’t installed myself bmannconsulting.com/notes/co-op-...

Ellliiiieeeeee we are going to have so much fun dropping links. I have given up on RSS for the time being. I'm harvesting links here and in various Discords. We have a FreshRSS install as part of #CommonsComputer project, which I could make you a member of if you promise not to hack us 😂

I am messing around with cleaning up contacts, spurred in part by Radicale on #CommonsComputer I've carried my contacts around forever. Just trimmed 4300+ back to ~300 "current". Also, TIL, vJournal format. It's like notes, in your calendar.

Had to bring down the #CommonsComputer and boot it back up again. Seems postgres + node related and tied to an update?

@billseitz probably a more direct prompt for all here then is - what baseline do you want? How do you want to participate? What new things do you want to try this year?

Plus — which parts of #CommonsComputer are interesting beyond Mastodon / TFT?

@billseitz thanks for all this.

And yeah something along these lines.

Here in year 2, the vision “those who care will (must) engage”.

eg just figured out @anish can likely turn off his FreshRSS install and use the #CommonsComputer jointly hosted one

The TFT is a sub focus within CC. I’m not worried about numbers, more interest. If 50 people show up for TFT then the resources will be there to run a dedicated server.

Experimenting with Matrix again. Added a Synapse server to the #CommonsComputer stack, and set up a space. Curating some "dweb" rooms, like @dweb.bsky.social and I think what is technically the original Bluesky space. Shill me your Matrix rooms that you hang out in!

I totalled up all of the costs for hosting #CommonsComputer. $550.32 per year, or $45.86 per month.

Which is pretty good for all the stuff it runs! There's no way I'd be able to keep all this stuff updated without having Cloudron just take care of it for me.
