Amusing misCATegorization.

This post showed up on my Misskey (Iceshrimp) Antenna for Robotic Combat, which means one of the configured keywords - that I associated with #combatrobotics - had to appear.

I couldn't figure it out by glancing so I did grep-in-a-loop and found the culprit was MRCA. As in MRCAtrickSwayze.

Any other #CombatRobotics fans watching the Emirates hosting the British (a la #RobotsLive) putting on an American-style (specifically #BattleBots -style) tournament? The way the announcers & production are being done is more appropriate and, IMO, 100x better than what the Russians did last week ( #BitvaRobotov ).

Telling an interpreter to do it live, without seemingly giving her a background primer on how #CombatRobotics works first, is honestly kind of crazy.

But I'm glad they did it. The alternative was zero English. And that would've been a little harder to understand - there are things I would've missed for sure.

It also would've been cool if the production team took a little time to become aware of what combat robotics is and why people watch also, but, you know, government work and all that.

Anyone aware of "Battle of Robots" at "Games of the Future" coming up in a week? What is the ruleset, exactly? Single-elim bracket?

It's weird for an event with the largest 1st-place cash prize ever to have so few details available. And when I tried to watch what I could find of their one previous event, I was more confused than anything.

#combatrobotics ... not #NHRL or #BattleBots but I don't know what tags one would use for visibility ... #GamesOfTheFuture I guess?
