Interface is also nice and clean but the dial timeline updates disconcertingly quickly. However, in the old debate of where #ClimateTwitter has/should move to, this seems like a good compromise

X-Twitter update. How #climatetwitter is going: David Roberts trashing climate activists and Exxon greenwashing ads.

I gave in and joined bluesky. Just to see what it's like.

First impression, and perhaps a lesson for mastodon: There seem to be a lot of old #ClimateTwitter people there and unlike here, it was very easy to find them because I could simply scan other people's followers lists.

I guess that's what people mean when they say it's hard to find people on #ClimateMastodon ?

Regardless, not going to leave this place, I like it here and I like not supporting yet another VC-funded walled garden

@KeithDevlin @liztai great post! It's a good question though what would happen today? Would people still cluster on twitter for those kind of debates? Would they even come here? I don't know. #Climatetwitter seems to still be a little bit alive there, some action on bsky and a bit here. It's fragmented and we rarely get the rich conversations going we had a few years ago (the rot had set in well before Musk for climate IMO)

Obviously bad for #energyTwitter and #climateTwitter, but also showing that the canary in the Musk mine is already half dead. #energyMastodon

Alarm at exodus of climate voices on Twitter after Musk takeover

Half of regular green tweeters abandoned platform after its sale and cuts to moderation, analysis finds

The Guardian

The new frontier in foot-dragging is “climate delay”: arguments that “accept the existence of climate change, but justify inaction or inadequate efforts.”

That’s the conclusion of an international team of researchers, including many of my favorite #ClimateTwitter peeps, in a study of 12 “discourses of climate delay”. (Spoiler alert: my fave is Doomism, brilliantly illustrated by this IPA-swilling hipster. )

And more - let’s all keep on adding to the list. I am really heartened to see a bit more movement just now from #ClimateTwitter to #ClimateMastodon!

It seems that, in terms of engagement, dropping Twitter accounts for new Mastodon accounts is FAR, FAR behind on that score. I'm finding Mastodon to be far below the engagement on Twitter, especially for #ClimateTwitter ....still not ready for prime time.

Still a dire need for consolidating and intercommunication with multiple instances. As it is, it's far too complex for most to get a handle on it (and I'm a social media and web developer level knowledgeable user).

I don't get the idea of freely combining SSPs and RCPs in climate scenario construction... Are there any analyses of the plausibility of different combinations? #AcademicTwitter #ClimateTwitter
