Federal authorities say they were attempting to detain an Ecuadorian man,
#Jose #Huerta-#Chuma, when the fatal shooting occurred in south Minneapolis.

Border Patrol Cmdr. Greg Bovino said has a criminal history including domestic assault, disorderly conduct and driving without a license.

A LexisNexis public records search found a man with the same name, who was born in October of 1984, was convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault, disorderly conduct and driving without a license in Hennepin County in 2018.

Federal court records did not list any cases for Jose Huerta-Chuma.
