Francis Edward Clark, Congregationalist minister, writes on a thriving church in Budapest. Evangelism, ministry to the blind, veterans, prisoners, sex workers, homeless refugees.
I’ve seen churches oppose aiding refugees— even protest or call the school board if others do so. Is this evangelism?
How can you work towards a church that is like this?
William Henry Bennett, Congregationalist minister, writes on words of King Amaziah of Israel (2 Chr 25:9). Amaziah invested silver in a miltary venture that was not God’s will; complained money was wasted. Bennett says the same argument made in his day to stop crusades vs. slavery or gin.
How can you avoid making “hundred talents” arguments against causes that annoy you?
