If you don't like the UUIDs generated by macOS' (and FreeBSD) `uuidgen` because they are written in uppercase, you can always add the following to your `.bashrc`, `.zshrc` or similar:

```bash
alias uuidgen="uuidgen | tr '[:upper:]' '[:lower:]'"
```

And from that moment on you get your UUIDs in lowercase… you've just got to love the composability of Unix commands!

ps. Please note that macOS' `uuidgen` [1] is much more limited than FreeBSD's [2] … which is more limited in options than the Linux one [3].
