This isn't perfect (and there are a couple of inaccuracies here and there) but it is a very interesting take on the story. Is the Silurian's really a story about Colonialism? Very curious what people think #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters

I really don't like the ending of this book at all. The TV version was very clear that Liz didn't know what the Brigadier was about to do. The novel changes the final scenes and makes it so that Liz was complicit in lying to the Doctor. A very odd choice #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
In this version of the story the world isn't saved by the Doctor but by Miss Travis (the character whose only previous contribution was to make tea for Frederick Masters, and not have a first name). Very odd #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
Liz is really not terribly well characterised (in this section at least). The Brigadier has to grab her and push her to Dr Meredith as "She's got hysterics" #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
Masters trip to London is very different in the book. The train is stopped (possibly with a tank on the track) but he manages to get out and find a taxi #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
The Doctor's suggestion for helping to prevent the plague is for a sergeant to phone the health officer and lie...alright then #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
Also getting a very different treatment is Dr Lawrence. Here he is a sad figure, weighed down by the responsibility of his job and the problems around him. It is a much calmer figure and not the raving lunatic we saw on screen #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
There is an effort made to try and show some of Dr Quinn's (I still read medicine woman every time) motivation but I am really not liking this version anywhere near as much as I did in his TV portrayal #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
This book is definitely making the effort to show scenes from different perspectives (including the Silurians). Every scene is told from the perspective of a particular character and that is definitely working for me #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
Like the human characters, the Silurians are really fleshed out here. Not only do they have names, they have backstory and relationships with one another. Seeing the world from Morka's perspective makes a refreshing change #DoctorWho #CaveMonsters
