‘Twas the day before Christmas
And all through the house
All the adult cats were snoozing
And I can’t find a mouse
‘Twas the day before Christmas
And all through the house
All the adult cats were snoozing
And I can’t find a mouse
Plant attack
I fight back
Guts are mess
Have new dress
I was sleeping,
On a pillow, in a sunny window,
On the second floor of the house.
I wasn't hungry,
Since my family gives me plenty of food,
And I didn't even finish my breakfast.
I heard a noise,
Which was the humans moving food bowls,
To prepare my dinner.
Now I am standing,
At the gate at the top of the stairs,
Yelling as if my life depended on it.
---- Cat, 2025
"Did you not go shopping?"
"Yes, I went shopping."
"But there are no groceries in the bag."
"Ah, true."
"There is instead a void."
"Yes, that there is. A very nice void."
"Did I not instruct you to avoid the void?"
"The void was unavoidable."
[Kneels down to pet void]
"And we are much better off for it."
Crossed paws and long stretch
Sunshine through the sheer curtains
Happy blissful cat

Prompt (6/1) - Sunshine 🌞
Learnings From My Cat
From the cat I have learned
To linger in a sun spot streaming through the window
To let other things wait while the warmth infuses my bones
To revel in a perfectly comfortable position, and to stretch slowly as if it is the day’s only task
The joy to be found in stillness
