I took this photograph a few days ago. I thought that it was a ruby-throated hummingbird of which there is a bunch around. But after examining the photos this morning, I realized that it is not the species I thought it was. Instead, I think this is a calliope hummingbird, pretty rare, especially in Louisiana. They mostly migrate up the Pacific coast to the northwest but sightings along the far southeastern states do happen as far east as Florida, according to the All About Birds sightings map. I identified it with Merlin Bird ID.
