That surely has to be LLM-generated artwork.

The real one will likely not have sleeved pins and have a fake plastic earth pin.

The machine has not got the CEE 7/16 Europlug shape right, either. And that's a bloody unusual shape for a NEMA 1 plug, as well.

Oh my goodness! e-Bay has several instances of this crap. Some suckers are going to be very disappointed visiting the U.K. and finding that their cheap and nasty "power adapters" do not plug in.

As I understand it, it's also a safety feature. It's not just an addition of a third Earth pin to a 2 pin system, it's an *incompatible* addition. One cannot plug in the old style 2-pin plugs that preceded it. The plug *has* to have an Earth, to fit.

There's a different CEE model ("Schuko") that has the Earth connector(s) on the edges of the plug and socket. CEE 7/5 and CEE 7/6 use a pin, and it's longer than the other 2 pins.

You are only looking at the CEE 7/6 plug, in that case. Look at the CEE 7/5 socket as well.

Alas, not even there, now.

CEE 7/5 sockets with CEE 7/6 plugs are slightly better than BS1363, because the recessed socket is slightly better at avoiding prying fingers problems than the sleeved pins of BS1363 are.

The key is in the non-reversibility.

A reversible plug requires a double-pole power switch on the appliance, otherwise one might end up opening the Neutral side of the circuit instead of the Live. Most manufacturers don't go to this expense.

This is why CEE 7/6 is better than CEE 7/4. It's also why 2-pin #NEMA connectors have been polarized since the 1940s.

Don't sell the U.S. short; these NEMAs beat Europlug.
