PREOXI Trial results, I find interesting how different the practice seems to be around the world. Mapleson C is standard of care in my region, cheap, quick to setup with some ability to dial in PEEP. Also easy to ventilate in the event of difficulties intubating.
Personally I gave up using NIV except in exceptional circumstances due to the complexity & effects it had on distracting the team from the task at hand.

@DocEd well I think it’s fair to say this community led effort was quite idealistic and we haven’t recruited enough extroverts to get it going! But #CCR24 has reminded me how much great discussion we can have inside this community without needing the bigger audience that twitter offers
@DocEd interesting comment on twitter just now from you about misinterpreting frequentist CIs - could you give an example? I’m in the room at #ccr24 but I missed the transgression!
Putting #SPICE3 together with #A2Btrial it does now seem hard to justify the use of these drugs in the ICU. I’m not very compelled by the arguments that we should try again with even higher doses given the side effect profile of these agents. #CCR24
@Watergypsy Very interesting that the interaction with age that SPICE3 reported seemed to be completely absent in A2B. #CCR24
Another nicely designed & run trial that is unlikely to change my practice. Dexmed to help bridge extubation maybe a good future direction, using it early seems to require quite a lot of propofol!
