🤝 Meet Melis, from Bulgaria🇧🇬 , who joined the EDPS Governance and Internal Compliance Unit as a Blue Book Trainee in October:

“From the early years of my legal studies, I had an interest in data protection because of its close connection with emerging technologies and its core role in safeguarding fundamental human rights in the digital age. Considering the EDPS’s central role in this field, I wanted to become part of it and applied for the Blue Book traineeship.

Building on my previous experience as a lawyer and data protection consultant, I was keen to understand how compliance operates within the European Institutions. During my traineeship at the Governance and Internal Compliance Unit, I had the opportunity to work with the Data Protection Officer of the EDPS, on the institutional compliance matters. I also had the chance to discuss the issues that raised my curiosity with professionals from different fields, which further broadened my perspective.

Being a trainee at the EDPS, a specialised institution with an encouraging and supportive working environment, has been a highly rewarding experience.”
