My submission for this month's render challenge on the #Blender discord, theme "apocalypse".
Working on this, I learned how to use #EmberGen for fluid simulations, how to do skin shading, how to use the new hair particle system and how to include satellite imagery into your scene using the #BLOSM addon.
Today's quick Blender experiment: Buildings from Google's Photorealistic 3D Tiles (imported with the Blosm add-on), eagle from Bertel Thorvaldsen's work "Ganymede with Jupiter's Eagle", some fake water, and physics collision with the buildings.
Thorvaldsen's Museum has put a lot of his works up as highly detailed 3D models, released under a free CC0 license!

Thorvaldsens Museum opened on 18 September 1848 and was the first public museum building in Denmark. Test af Blender og Blosm omkring Fisketorvet. Kameraet var for tæt på bygningerne, så polygonerne er lidt for tydelige.
Google har givet adgang et API for deres 3D-bygninger, som så kan bruges i Blender, QGIS, m.m.:

Så fik jeg mine kugler til at skinne! Løsningen var at bruge et script til at konvertere materialet, som beskrevet i denne video.

Dog kan man nu se kanterne langs hver 3D-tile. Hmmmmm.
