If the attitude is that only people of a certain fitness and/or youth are deserving of medical treatment then that is an appalling position for a bio-ethicist to take.
The arrogant able-ism is breathtaking!
Certainly there are treatments that will be futile for any individual no matter their age. But this is an individual discussion for the person and their healthcare team.
