Congratulations and thanks to all organisers of #BSDBGenSoc2024. It was so good.

I particularly appreciated the mix of plant & animal talks. Very stimulating to think about principles of self-organisation across species that evolved multicellularity independently

All those plant talks were also helpful to me in my job as a Salad Developmental Biologist (which, as I discovered today, my piano teacher thinks I am, having mis-heard me say "cell and developmental biology")

I'm incredibly proud of our first year PhD student Aisling Fairweather who gave a magnificent talk today at #BSDBGenSoc2024

She presented new tools for genome engineering and cell neighbour-labelling in neural cells, built by Aisling and @matt_mala , and discussed how she will use them to study glioblastoma

Fantastic talk from deserving Waddington Medal winner JP Vincent. If you look closely at this picture from his early days, you'll see he built his own inverted microscope... by turning a regular microscope upside down.
