Join us for this introductory organizing training program that covers the basics of grassroots organizing skills, with a focus on base building, leadership development, and building strong committees. You will learn best practices in holding one-to-ones, conducting outreach, building strong local committees, and developing leadership, so they can build a broader, stronger base of parents taking action to defend and transform public schools. **Please make sure you sign up for all four sessions! Each session builds on the content from the previous sessions.** ## Week 1: Intro to Organizing in this Political Moment Our first session grounds us in the political moment we’re in, unmasking the billionaires and autocrats driving the austerity agenda, and why we need to lean into organizing in this divisive political moment. We know the power of organizing in the face of authoritarianism; and so this session will provide an introduction to community organizing in the context of the rising authoritarianism we’re seeing in real time. ## Week 2: Building our Base Our second week will focus on the key skills needed to successfully grow a base of committed parents, educators and students that can take action to defend public education. We’ll cover the rigor, time and discipline needed to do effective outreach in order to build a crew to meet this moment, understanding what motivates your base to take risks and move into action. ## Week 3: Building a Powerful Team This session will do a deep dive on how to build and sustain a local team of leaders that vibe together and relate well, in order to build towards mutual accountability and support. Building strong teams helps us build the local power we need to advocate for the public schools our communities deserve, and build collective muscle in the face of growing authoritarianism. ## Week 4: Planning Powerful Actions This session will anchor us in the components of an effective campaign so we can better analyze our power, develop strategy, and brainstorm effective tactics that have a lasting impact. We’ll define power, and how we can effectively wield our power through small and big actions. **This training is FREE of charge and is open to organizers and community members who want to deepen their organizing skills and build local teams to fight to protect and transform public education.** *4 Weeks of Power is coordinated and led by Midwest Academy, NYU Metro Center and organizers and leaders from Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools (AROS) member groups.*

# **Pledge your support for the Protect Education Initiative – check all that apply!** A coalition of Arizona families and educators represented by the Arizona Education Association and Save Our Schools Arizona is launching a ballot measure to bring accountability and transparency to Arizona’s $1 billion universal ESA voucher program, while improving safety standards, preserving flexibility for students with disabilities, and recovering critically needed funds for Arizona’s local public schools. The Arizona legislature has obstinately refused to add any guardrails to the program for three years, leading to massive fraud, waste, and unsafe situations for kids. We the people must now take matters into our own hands to deliver the real change our schools, students, and state need. This initiative includes: ✅ New Safety Measures to Protect Voucher Students - Requires all voucher-funded schools to comply with basic safety standards - Requires that voucher-funded schools investigate allegations of misconduct and maintain fingerprint clearance cards for all employees who have unsupervised contact with children ✅ Basic Standards to Prevent Waste, Fraud, and Abuse, including: - Banning the use of ESA voucher funds for non-educational and luxury items - Recoup millions in unused funds for public schools - Transparency for voucher funds - Clarifying enforcement authority ✅ Re-Focusing the Voucher Program on Families with the Highest Need: - Ending subsidies for the wealthy: Beginning with the 2027-2028 school year, requires the annual family income for universal ESA voucher students to be at or below $150,000, adjusted annually for inflation. ✅ Raising the Bar for Academic Quality to Support Student Success: - Requires all voucher-funded schools to follow academic accountability standards. To ensure students are learning, private schools would be required to have their students take similar assessments as public school students or be accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting organization. - The ballot language filed today is subject to a 30-day Legislative Council review period and may be revised based on that review. [Public polling](https://www.arizonaea.org/sites/aea/files/2026-01/arizona-voucher-accountability-polling-memo.pdf) shows that nearly three-in-four Arizona voters approve of core accountability measures proposed in the ballot language, with support holding strong across political ideology and geography.
