@inpc mentioned today #AugustusLoop, created by #ExpertSleepers. I remembered I have the effect / looper / thingamajig on my #DistingEX. Though I couldn't help with inpc's query, I was inspired to toy with it.

I suppose you mean the guy from Expert Sleepers, as I assume he's the one who originally wrote it. I could be mistaken. I haven't solved your dilemma, but I was inspired to play with the version of #AugustusLoop that is on the Disting EX and had quite bit of fun.
On my version, one can reverse and it keeps recording. I have control over when to stop, reverse & clear the loop.
I made a "ditty" with it. I'll upload a link in a little while.
