Worked out why I'm struggling to pin down the plot/escalation for my next book. There are fifteen+ named characters representing five+ distinct groups, all with different agendas.

The things they do affect each other in different ways, they all want different things, and I just keep adding more! That's why I've stopped working on it for now and am writing something else, because until it's settled in my own head it'll never be settled on the page.
