Got my first Meshtasic LoRa device today. Naturally there are no other nodes nearby, but the fact I have something up-and-running is great. I'm going to take it to #AtlSecCon in a few weeks to see if anyone else is there, just as an experiment.

Giving a talk at ATLSecCon on Thursday April 9 at 3pm. The thesis: cybersecurity is always and everywhere a risk management function.

Frameworks, certs, Bodies of Knowledge — everyone has an answer to how we should do security. But ask "what are we actually trying to accomplish?" and things get quieter.

Rick Howard's formulation: reduce the probability of a material cyber event in the next business cycle. Not perfect security. Not audit compliance. Risk.

Come tell me I'm wrong.

A LinkedIn connection that I think highly of announced that his speaker application for Atlantic Security Conference (AtlSecCon) has been successfully submitted. I thought, "Cool! I'll check out the website!"
Wowzers.
A security conference website, and no way to opt out of the cookies.
I never left the homepage. I closed the browser tab instead.

#sector was great this year, albeit lacking due to missing @thegibson

Overall we had over 200 people come and scan at the booth. A lot of interest around our gamified tabletops, but we had some pentest interest as well. I'm hoping that we'll have some solid leads in the next few weeks, but time will tell.

Next year I'm looking to also be at #AtlSecCon and #Hackfest as well as #SECTOR again, so if you have plans for next year, be sure to look us up! Now I just have to order my booth kit and related stuff (TV, flooring, etc.) Fun times.

Dammit, i think i picked up some sort of con-crud via my outings at #atlseccon .. i didn't mask up as I usually do. I really really hope its not covid..

All too soon, it is the closing keynote #ATLSecCon 2025

From Stephanie "Snow" Carruthers - Global Lead of Cyber Range and Cyber Crisis Management, X-Force, IBM

Another successful #atlseccon, 2025 in the books and we're on the road again.

I really should have collected the speaker's socials and posted them for #followfriday. Maybe next week, it's a good list, even if I haven't compiled it yet 😆.
