Reacting viscerally to emotionally-charged words and imagry is instinctive. It's a vector by which people can be easily manipulated. Whether or not those words and imagry are true. That's kinda how storytelling works.
That's a vector exploited by news for eyeballs. By powerful for control. By besieged for awareness.
It's hard to be aware of it. Harder still to stop and think.
