Dr. Young-Leslie 🇨🇦I watched Baz Luhrmann's #Elvis last night. It's a marvelous film: camera work, editing, costuming, choreography =brilliant. Tom Hanks is excellent, but Austin Butler glows & outshines in every scene. My Q is about the story line, specifically of Elvis cradled by Black blues & gospel musicians & embedded in the Black community. How true is that? Was EP really so tight with the Black community, then? Was he as anti-racist, anti-segregation as Luhrmann's film implies?
