In Jönköping, Sweden, young people gather every year over the Easter weekend in the car park by the IKEA to have a party. It’s illegal, but it’s tolerated. Perhaps because the authorities realise there’s absolutely nothing for young people to do in the country. So they really let their hair down. As early as 8 o’clock in the morning, they set off from home in lowered new Volvos or old Cadillacs, loaded with booze and stereos. By the time they arrive in Jönköping, usually a few hours’ drive away, everyone is, of course, already drunk. The party then goes on until midnight. The drivers stay perfectly sober, clearly having far less fun. The music is blasted into the air by massive stereos; wherever it’s loudest, that’s where the biggest party is. The atmosphere is raw and wild, but always fun and safe. #asecs #jönköping #elmia #biltreffen

One of the reasons why I love #ASECS is the brilliance and kindness of the people and the genuine interest of the membership to support one another. It's true about the snack tables, but we always find a way to celebrate with tasty libations . . .

Some new people, so I'll mention it is helpful if you follow/tag the @ASECS group for c18/ #ASECS posts of general interest, especially cfp & jobs etc. Because of the way Mastodon works, "followers from other servers are not displayed" so there are people not on c18.masto.host following @ASECS who you can reach by tagging it (& vice-versa if you are on another server) I've been reposting some things to the @ASECS group, but the quote function on my app is kind of buggy.
