Are El Cajon police sharing license plate data illegally?

Last month, the agency installed license plate readers across the city. A police department in Texas has access to the data. The El Cajon department doesn't agree with critics who say that violates a California law.

To say the least. Still flummoxed that the CA State Senate delayed #AB1463 for a year. Should have reined in automated license plate readers yesterday. There is no time to waste. https://www.ocregister.com/2023/07/21/stop-sharing-out-of-state-plates-data/

Tuesday is the big day for #AB1463's final policy hearing in the Senate Judiciary committee. This bill would keep CA license plate reader scans IN California and purge scans of no interest to a criminal investigation after 30 days. #ALPR #Privacy
