Pekah and Rezin conspired against #Ahaz king of Judah to remove him from his throne. Ahaz became a vassal of #Assyria, and the Assyrians wiped out the Arameans and the Israelites.
The Assyrians would later exile the Israelites to the land of Assyria, and re-populated Israel with people from elsewhere. Thus the land became known as Samaria, and its people #Samaritans.
We better understand the Second Book of Kings according to its Greek name: 4 Reigns, the fourth and last book chronicling the kings and prophets of Israel and Judah.
#2Kings began with the ministry of #Elisha.
Elisha would do greater things than Elijah; in his days the House of Omri would fall, and Baal service would be extirpated from Israel.
The fortunes of #Israel and #Judah would rise and fall from 850 until 750 BCE.
