Three big birthdays today. Greenpeace turns 52, the Lehman Brothers crash 15 - and Finanzwende 5 (no coincidence, as 10 years of Lehman was the founding moment).

I spent almost 16 years working for Greenpeace International … but that‘s only about a quarter of the organization‘s life. I have spent two and half years at Finanzwende - a full 50% of its existence.

Moving a global, established organization forward vs. building a new, national organizations are two very different challenges. I cherish both.

And the Lehman crash 15 years ago shows how important it is that civil society as a whole pays attention to the financial system … It‘s impacts are everywhere. And while we right this moment don’t face a Lehman style global financial crisis, the finance sector produces a 1000 different crises every day. From care homes being squeezed by private equity investors to greenwashed fossil fuel investments or rising rents - the finance sector is behind so much of our day to day hurt.

That‘s why we have set out a new regulatory agenda for the finance sector for the next five years:
