Maron thought she was going to eat the cows? Barked and stood her ground for a moment. The cows were just curious. Maron had a great time as we rushed thruough the organic fields of vegetables. On the Way back from Takachiho, Kamino's All Night Myth Dancing (Yokagura, Night God Music 夜神楽) we were able to visit old friends in Kijo Town too. The delighful couple have been organic famers for aroud 4 years or so, since before it was cool they were bringing together producers and consumers in a nice little grassroots organization. Back in the day people would say they eat organic vegetables because they are safer, now they say they eat organic because it's tasty. The carrots with their leaves smelled great during the rest of the drive back to Mimata Town. I think the taste difference between organic and chemical agriculture may be most apparent with carrots. That's the impression I get from hearing HinoharaSanTachi, and carrots are mentioned in Rachel Carson's _Silent Spring_ too. The baby food makers were having trouble finding carrots that had low enough concentrations of pesticided in them... And people say the carrot leaves (great as tempura, or fry-dried to be crackly stuff you put over rice...) turn black too soon when they come from chemical fields, but are great when they come from organic fields... #Cows #MaronTheShiba #牛 #木城町 #柴犬

A friend that has been organic farming for over 30 years gave me this great Sansai Bento, a lunch with mountain herbs all wrapped in bamboos shoot skin. A little soba place makes these great lunches. I think I've been there once, you wouldn't notice it while driving by but if you mention you had a nice SanSai Bentou to a local they'll ask if you got it from this place. I couldn't hear the name of the restaurant but I'll get figure it out eventually.

I had to run out to the ChaUsuBaru area around the borders of the Kijo and Takanabe Towns and Saito City here in Miyazaki Prefecture.. It was to pick up 30 kilos of organic wheat for a Miso-making event run by an organic farmer here in the Miyakonojyo city area. The ChaUsuBaru are hosts various buildings and institutions associated with Ishii Juji, who started the first orphanage in Japan, maybe? It's a nice area you can see the mountains around the biggest Osuzu mountain and look over expanses of tea and vegetable fields, and beef cow farms. A very nice little organic bakery just moved into one of the old buildings associated with Ishii Juji. This old nursery shool, or pre-school is interesting. Check out the bathroom with the mini urinals and low-down sink!.. I forgot to take pictures of the (load-bearing?) posts that still have their branches inside the building. I've been to a nice live-music festival sort of event here too. Lotsa fun! Today I just stopped by on the way to pick up the wheat and visit an organic farmer friend. But I met bunch of nice people here too. The groups seemed like some sort of free-school class that comes to help out at this cute little bakery.. . I picked up soem Sutoren(?) some sort of German(?) Christmas bread while talking with the group. They thought I was Santa Claus so I told them I was here so the reindeer and local wild boar could get to know each other and practice trading places in the sleigh harnesses.. After pulling on the real white beard kids believe that sort of thing..
