My quest of minimizing exposure to Microsoft services is going good: second-hand Sony PlayStation onboarded and is replacing XBOX Series for primary gaming needs 

There are couple serious problems with  though: PS4 and PS5 cannot play CDs and original controller layout is terrible (my subjective opinion). Luckily, the latter can be mitigated following good advice by @Xymon987 

Got myself NACON Revolution 5 Pro - official licensed  product compatible with both PS4 and PS5 with XBOX-like layout. Feels a bit wider than XBOX Elite Series 2 when held in hands, analog sticks are not as precise (Elite sets expectations really high), but arrow keys are excellent and functional keys offer nice soft clicky feedback. Weight of the controller can be adjusted with added kit of metal bars. Wireless connection requires USB dongle to be plugged into console, but didn't experience any connection issues or lags so far. LED effects are not as dramatic as ones on original PlayStation controller, but all in all - pretty decent device
