new instance, quieter timeline :)

livecoding, open source hardware, aksesuar, comedy food art, mysticism

two (2) whole interaction-free days of wheel-spinning, nose-following, generally doing a little bit of a lot of stuff <3

a background task is to get a couple of things together for the #emfcamp CfP...

Who knows if they'll accept "Synthercise, the chiptune dance fitness experience" again, but it's fun to do, @discontinuity seems to be up for co-teaching, and most of the effort has already been made, including new tracks added for #why2025

Yes i did say at the time "I never want to hear this tune again", but my tic80 cover version of Dolly Parton's "9 to 5" is unstoppable

#Synthercise

Passed another good installation in the Whitespace pop-up gallery, a "working class collective" called Anthill, relatively recent ECA graduates (all their links are FB / insta). Today's its last day tho

Some interesting textiles-as-canvas work there, but the standout for me was this installation about scalps, it's by Alice Gatner. Didn't meet them but was told the backstory, past work as a hairdresser, got a bug about how little effort goes into scalp care. This is comedy viral marketing material for designer scalps, not shown is a extended video done in the style of a shopping channel, but for scalps

Just a lovely mix of hyperfixation, critique, and silliness, as well as having a high degree of circumstantial topicality for me :)

The disco cowboy hat ready for collection, somewhat constrained by time and energy budget, no batteries. Did allow myself to buy some new materials, gold-silver-iridescent plastic gems and coloured beads with big holes, meant for kids crafts

Beads on the hat string could be bigger and more regular, nod to the Joseon era, hint of K-pop demon boy band, sure the kid will carry it off at the Americanised breakfast ceremony for school-leavers. Frankly i'm glad of any commission
