So last month I suddenly got the urge to create (umm, not another app). I thought about writing something, but I didn't want to write another "technology bad" post. So I started writing about Chinese history. Turns out 3000 years is really long. 4 parts in and I'm still at the Three Kingdoms. So I'm making it a weekly thing. I'll try to write until the fall of Qing dynasty. Hope I can keep this up

I'm so used to the yellow-and-green kitchen sponge that this new one will always feel wrong and desaturated to me

Recently, we ran out of good breakfast options. McDonald's is getting expensive and unhealthy. Economy beehoon is all carbs. Nasi lemak is too fatty. Plus, that auntie gets our order wrong 9 times...

I facepalm every time I see people claim that "AI can predict XYZ".

If you tweak your prompt a little, you'll get a different answer. If you push back, the LLM will agree with you.

Snow White would not be a thing if the magic mirror is powered by an LLM, because the queen would just regenerate the response until it says she's the fairest.

This AI startup says it can tell if a script will make a hit film

AI startup Quilty says it can predict a script’s chances of box office success, but their process feels pretty dubious.

The Effects of Another Ad in iOS App Store Search – Pixel Envy

Jeremy Provost of development firm Think Tap Work: It’s been 64 days since we first noticed Apple’s second ad position in search results for iPhone and iPad. Our update after two weeks showed consistently less search ad impressions for our apps, unless we invested heavily in paying for Search Ads. Here are some updated numbers. […]

@gingerbeardman I don't understand anything about golf so sorry if I'm saying something stupid:

- Hard mode on vs off didn't make a big difference for me.
- The first 9 holes with hard mode on, the second half with hard mode off.
- Par 3 is arguably harder because if your first shot doesn't reach the light circle area, it's probably going to be a par (especially if the wind blows hard).
- THANK YOU FOR THE MOAI TEXT. (I play the game in silence mode on the toilet.)

Recently I noticed something called 拾AI牙慧

(The original idiom was 拾人牙慧, literally meaning eating the food stuck between others' teeth. Or passing others' opinions as your own.)

So someone told you about their opinion, like, “I think Qin Shihuang was the best emperor”. You asked them why. They couldn't say much to back it up. You kept asking. They finally admitted they got it from an AI.
