So I've just found out that there's a film coming out called The Death of Robin Hood and the trailer seems to imply that "the legend is a lie" and he's a violent thug who murdered lots of people.

Ok so *checks notes* a film comes out during a period of huge financial imbalance where the richest 1% are attempting absolute power and control over the other 99% and *flips a page* said film "debunks" a national icon that stole from the rich and gave to the poor. Got it, got it.

You know when they say that states used the media of the time to suppress the minds of the people through propaganda and erasure of folk heroes. Yeah, this is one of those moments.

No it isn't just a silly film with Hugh Jackman doing an accent.

(Yes the film could have a clever twist but ultimately that isn't the point)

This effectively means:

The LLM industry must keep the RAM prices at absurd levels. Otherwise Local LLM will ruin their business models.

There will be a lot of pressure on system makers to offer only "small" systems (below 128GB RAM).

You have to read Apples statements in light of that context. They removed the systems that were perfect for local LLMs from their lineup.

I imagine talks like "Nice product line you have there. It would be a shame if you were to be totally cut off from the the RAM market."

And let us be clear: compared to the money at stake, Apple is no longer a big fish.
