So, imagine this: one complex design problem, four different collaborative modeling tools, four facilitators, and 45 minutes to solve it with a group of 8! That was the intense setup @yellowbrickc, @__maxs__, @hschwentner, and I ran at the DDD Europe hands-on labs.
@pierrickblons @selrahcd I found one trace of our conversations - it was more than a year before I met you, Pierrick 🙈

@yellowbrickc@mastodon.social @jdcarlston@mastodon.social I wanted to suggest something similar. I was very suspicious of rental and car co-handling tire and oil. A BC responsible for keeping the cars ready to go (mechanics ?) stamping cars « ready to go » which is translated in the « rental » BC has « this specific car is available to be rented now ». Also there is probably a difference between « a specific car » and « a model/category of car » in « rental BC ».

Good morning 🔆

I'm particularly thinking about whether we'll see more product managers this year. I've long pushed for better collaboration between architecture/development and product management, so @xinyao and johncutlefish@mastodon.social giving a joint keynote is a fantastic development and a great sign.

This emphasis on better collaboration between these diciplines was the inspiration for my 'Domain-Driven Design for Product Management' course. - 2/

Good news for those interested: my Domain-Driven Design for Product Management course on June 23rd and 24th in Utrecht (in Dutch) is confirmed and running!

Meanwhile, I'm heading to @dddeu today. Kicking off with my hands-on collaborative modeling lab with @yellowbrickc, @__maxs__ and @hschwentner which seems to be full! It's always a highlight of the year, and I'm keen to see who's attending. - 1/3

Something special is happening in two weeks at @dddeu. We're running a hands-on session where we'll tackle one problem using four distinct collaborative modelling tools: Domain Storytelling, EventStorming, Wardley Mapping, and Domain Message Flow Modelling.

@yellowbrickc, @__maxs__, @hschwentner, or myself will facilitate one of the tools (can you guess which?).

Vlad Khononov book on DDD is a staple today and it's great that we get to have him as a guest at @virtualddd
He will be talking about how the balanced coupling model can help with over and under-engineering, can't wait!

Everyone inside the Promotion Hall, which was almost at the epicenter of the blast, was killed instantly.

Following the city's destruction the hall was scheduled for demolition, but in 1966 it was decided that the renamed 'Atomic Bomb Dome' (原爆ドーム) would become a memorial.

Hiroshima-jō (広島城), also known as Ri-jō (鯉城 'Carp Castle'), was built between 1592-1599 by Mōri Terumoto (毛利輝元).
Mōri sided against Tokugawa Ieyasu (徳川家康) at the Battle of Sekigahara (関ヶ原の戦い), and having lost, abandoned the castle in 1600.

Fukushima Masanori (福島正則) became lord, but was replaced by Asano Nagaakira (浅野長晟) when he repaired the castle (after a flood) without bakufu permission in 1619.

The atomic blast likely destroyed the original castle's lower pillars and it collapsed. It was rebuilt in 1958.

Hiroshima's (広島) 'Genbaku-no-ko-no-zō' (原爆の子の像 "Children's Peace Monument") was erected on Children's Day 1958 to comfort the soul of Sadako Sasaki (佐々木禎子 1943-55) and the children who died of atomic bomb related diseases.

Sadako Sasaki (佐々木禎子 1943-55) is one of the most well-known 'hibakusha' (被爆者 'person affected by a bomb').
Nine years after the bomb Sadako developed leukemia. While in hospital she began folding paper cranes, in the belief she would be cured if she made it to 1000.

#広島 #佐々木禎子

A folded crane is called an 'orizuru' (折鶴). It is said that if you fold a thousand cranes, collectively known as 'senbazuru' (千羽鶴), you will be granted one wish.

In total Sadako folded around 1300, but sadly her wish did not come true & she died on October 25th 1955.

For those wanting to learn more about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and the aftermath, Keiji Nakazawa's (中沢啓治) semi-autobiographical and devastatingly honest 'Barefoot Gen' (はだしのゲン 'Hadashi-no-Gen') is a good place to start.

@camelliakyoto This is the crane I received 15 years ago at Peace Park. I keep it in my cabinet with all my special keepsakes.
@camelliakyoto I've seen these in Japan at temples - are these coloured paper crane ribbons made specifically to honour Sadako, or hibakushi?

@camelliakyoto It was such an emotional experience walking around the grounds a few years back. 2 young school aged girls came up and gave us some origami cranes. It was so moving.

It shouldn’t have happened then, I hope it never does again.

@camelliakyoto I took a few pictures at night when we visited a few weeks ago. The area provides a great amount of info about the bombing, and the museum is heavy with details on the events of that day and the aftermath.
