Due to earthquake damage in Chapel Street near Duke Street:
- No Route 78 trams run between Balaclava and Stop 50 Toorak Rd.
- Passengers may consider trains from South Yarra Station as alternatives.
We’re proud to lead the project to refurbish iconic W-Class trams, and are welcoming back the fifth restored tram from Bendigo Tramways.
The 70th E-Class tram is now in service on Melbourne’s tram network. Each E-Class can carry up to 210 passengers, equivalent to 1km of cars. A total of 90 are on order, improving safety, accessibility and passenger information.

Following a disruption to trams from a vegan rally last month, the carnivores have decided it’s their turn. Trams in the City may be disrupted from 6pm Sunday due to a BYO Sausage rally. The pescatarians will not be attending as apparently they have bigger fish to fry.
