The Verge thinks it’s time to retire the word podcast as the majority of shows are locked into ecosystems like Spotify or are videos hosted on YouTube.

I say it’s time to reclaim podcast as a term that means an easily downloadable non-DRM audio file.

Audio Interface shows are podcasts. You can listen wherever you want including, yes, your old iPod.

It feels funny to be looking forward to January at this time of year because I do enjoy Christmas very much. But I have a hankering to get back into #jamuary. With a young child last year didn’t really work out in this respect but I’m cautiously optimistic for 2026. I’m still somewhat time poor right now but I think I might get a few bits out next month. 🤞

Others have mentioned @etherdiver and I'll add my voice to theirs, his Other People's Music series is a gold mine for awesome music across the fediverse (and elsewhere)
