I finished writing my novel! Just over 90,000 words written in a month, I'm SO tired. Sad that it's over and hoping I have another novel in me somewhere as I want to chase this feeling again.

One more chapter and then my novel is done. I'll miss my lovely characters 😭. I can't believe my time with them is coming to an end already (for now, I still have to edit).
I think I will reward/console myself by watching Perfect Crown. I see that is has some of my favourite supporting actors in it: Yoon Byung Hee, Lim Chul Soo and Jo Jae Yun. I particularly love Lim Chul Soo, he elevates every drama he's in. I'm rewatching Vincenzo right now and he is so so funny in that one (as is Yoon Byung Hee for that matter).

@EllenInEdmonton I am seriously considering doing a solo trip to Korea next year as a 50th birthday present to myself. Will probably do a week of touristy stuff and a week of hiking.
I've heard that it's hard to eat in restaurants in Korea when you travel alone. Did you find that as well? Or is that only the case for certain restaurants?

I don't own a car. I take public transit everywhere, and I do think personal vehicle use has real environmental costs. But I don't think driving is inherently unethical.

I live in Seoul, and the city makes transit easy for me. That's not a virtue. It's a condition I happen to benefit from. Some people live where transit barely exists, or where it doesn't get them to work, school, or care. In those places, driving is not optional.

The same is true of flying. In parts of Europe you can cross borders by train. In island nations, or in places with weak land connections, flying may be the only realistic option. “Just fly less” means very different things in those places.

A lot of what gets called my ethical choices comes from the conditions I live in. That makes me wary of turning structural failures into personal morality. If the alternative is missing or unusable, shaming people for not choosing it solves nothing.

When environmental harm gets framed as individual moral failure, attention shifts away from the structural changes that would actually matter. It's not an accident that oil companies spent decades popularizing the idea of the personal carbon footprint.

Writing the break up part of a romance novel is always the hardest. I really want to get through this today as I've already spent 8000 words in misery and am exhausted from feeling sad. Writing really does sometimes feel like cutting open your heart and bleeding onto the page.

Watched Fabricated City tonight which was a wild ride. JCW was of course fabulous in it. Glad it was a 2 hour movie though, parts of it were quite brutal.
It looks like The Manipulated follows an eerily similar plotline but spread out over 12 episodes (so 12 hours?). I don't know if I can stomach 12 hours of cruelty.

Ji Chang Wook looked amazing at the premier of Colony in Cannes and it doesn't look like there were that many fans waiting for him so of course now I really regret not going there. Even though it was far and expensive and I'm absolutely exhausted already this weekend, it would have been so awesome. Sometimes I regret being a responsible adult 😆.

It's been nearly 4 weeks since I started writing my novel and I've written just over 70,000 words so far. This is in addition to my fairly stressful fulltime job, my mom duties and my Kdrama dates with my sister. As a consequence I've been going to bed way too late but I can't slow down on the writing. I'm obsessed with my story. I can't wait to finish it and at the same time I'll be so sad when it's over.

After hearing @JillsJoy gush about him for years, I finally checked out D.O.'s music and wow, I should have done that years earlier. His voice! His music!😍😍😍 I know who I'll be listening to for the next few days.

*Note to self: always listen to Jill.
